E. GONJA: 90% schools under trees covered with sch. blocks-DCE

About 90 percent of schools under trees in the East Gonja district have been eliminated and replaced with standard and modern school blocks to befit the current trend of educational development in the system, the DCE for the area, Alhassan Mumuni has confirmed.

He indicated that the Assembly has within three and half years in office worked seriously to support the promotion of quality education in all parts of the district with a boost in educational infrastructure being the hallmark of its administration.

Speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, the DCE noted that almost all of such deprived schools that were conducting lessons from mud-structures, dilapidated buildings, as well as those studying under trees have all been rescued from their bad conditions, saying that the Assembly has secured either 3 or 6 unit classroom block facilities to enhance the standard of education in these schools and the area as a whole.

He noted that under this move certain schools like Sala D/A primary, Mataheko primary, Sabongida and Gbong JHS all benefited from the construction of school blocks.

He therefore asserted that it is imperative to seek the welfare of teachers through motivational packages and other incentives to make them dedicated in their profession.

Acknowledging the key role teachers play in education, the DCE lauded the NDC government’s willingness and efforts to boost the wellbeing of teachers under the “Better Ghana” agenda programme. He pointed out that there is the need to boost accommodation for them to be able to attract them to work in very deprived areas.
