L MANYA K:Min cuts sod for construction of Agomanya market

Major projects to give the Agormanya market in the Lower Manya Municipality in the Eastern Region have started with full zeal.

The Eastern Regional Minister on Thursday 21, June cut sod for work to commence on the 60-unit lockable stores at the market.

The project which is in the first phase is estimated at GHs220, 000 and funded through District Development Fund (DDF).

Another project which is the construction of market sheds which is expected to accommodate about 500 traders is over 60 percent complete, also funded through DDF at a cost of GHs139,309.

Addressing the gathering, the Regional Minister , Mr. Victor Smith said the government is committed to providing suitable and befitting structure to enable people go about their economic activity in peace and comfort hence the structure to protect them against the rain and sun as well as keep their wares safe.

He called on the people to cooperation with the contractor to enable him deliver on schedule.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Agbo-Tetteh explained that with the promotion of the district to a municipality, it is important to improve infrastructure to befit the current municipal status of the area to accommodate the increasing activity that are expected.

 “This is the first time any government is attending to the Agomanya market with this magnitude of project, a situation that attest government’s concern to improve the lot of the people”.

According to him the project will continue in phases until the whole market is modernized.
