AMA: G/R Minister opens RCC review meeting

Nii Laryea Afotey

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo has opened a three day annual performance meeting for the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the region with a call on them to eschew any form of violence and disunity.

He said disunity and conflicts are breeding grounds for problems which have the tendency to derail the development of the nation.

“Conflicts which are even rife amongst some of these key actors do not augur well for the development of the districts and the region as a whole. No meaningful development can therefore take place in an environment full of tension, conflict, hostility and divisiveness”.

The Minister called on them to execute their roles accordingly to ensure a peaceful election in December this year.

Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo therefore called on all Presiding Members, Members of Parliament (MPs), Co-ordinating Directors, Assembly Members, Traditional rulers as well as other Officers working at the sub-structure levels to help promote peace and harmony to ensure rapid development.

He noted that the annual review exercise was part of their obligation geared towards strengthening decentralization system of good governance, deepening democratic participation and harmonizing plans and programmes in order to achieve the overall development of the region.
