AKUAPIM N:E/R Min inspects more projects
 | | | Mr. Victor Smith | |
Mr. Victor Smith, Eastern Regional Minister has urged communities not to leave all their challenges in the hands of government for solution.
He said some of the challenges can be resolved through communal labour with little push or assistance from the Municipal Assembly.
He made the call at Saforo in the Akuapim North municipality when he inspected work on a 6-unit classroom block under construction.
He was unhappy the community allowed erosion to wash away the road leading to the school creating deep gully.
According to Mr. Smith they (community) could have done better with the road to organize themselves adding that the current situation poses a great danger to the people.
The project estimated at GHs245, 000 and funded by the education ministry will have additional facilities fitted in including ceiling fans, louver blades, and tiles. Others are drains to help collect water to protect the structure from being washed away.
It is to replace the current school structure which is in deplorable state. Meanwhile, the people called for extension of electricity, teachers’ bungalow and ICT tools in the community.
The MCE, Mr. George Opare Addo assured the people that moves have been made to procure more electric poles to connect all other communities.
