AKUAPIM N: Min commissions new school block

Unlike many schools in the country that are faced with inadequate furniture, the situation is different in the Akuapim North Municipality in the Eastern Region.
Chief Executive of the area George Opare Addo disclosed that adequate furniture has been provided to all schools in the municipality through the collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Education and the Assembly.
The situation is the same for teachers in the area as the assembly has provided about 750 furniture for them.
The MCE made the disclosure when the Eastern Regional Minister Mr. Victor Smith commissioned a 6-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities including staff room, library, ICT centre and sanitary facilities at Nyamebekyere.
The 125,000 GETfund project is the second project for the school within three and half years after the construction and handing over of a three unit block for the JHS at the cost of GHs54, 000.
It is worth stating that before 2009 the school had only 3 unit classroom block, the situation that saw a majority of the students to have classes under trees and since the school is just by road side it was difficult keeping attention of the students in class.
Mr. Smith commended the DCE and the entire assembly for their effort in improving the education situation in the community and pledged to help the school with computers to activate the ICT centre.
The MCE also assured the community of measures to connect the school to electricity since the school had already been wired.
