BIRIM C:Oda gets early childhood development centre
The worry of most carrier women who are mothers is convenient and safe environment to keep their young ones in order to have free hand to engage in their businesses.
This is even worse in cities and towns where conditions are complex and expensive compelling most families to go for house help and babysitters.
The Birim Central Municipal Assembly having recognized this, collaborated with the Social Investment Fund to put up Early Childhood Development Centre at Akim Oda in the Old Towm Zongo community to help mitigate the burden on working mothers.
The project worth GHs70, 350 comprises 3-classroom, kitchen, dinning hall, toilet facilities and other offices basically designed to meet the comfort of the children.
Mr. Victor Smith, who inspected the facility which was being painted at the time of his visit commended the assembly for initiating the project and called for a conscious effort to maintain it to serve the intended purpose.
According to him, the cognitive stages of child development is very important and advised that personnel to be recruited to mann the facility be professionals and competent enough to nurture the children to become responsible citizens in the future.
Addressing some members of the community, Mr. Smith said government is on course to improving the lives of the citizenry with special emphasis on education and called on the parents to show commitment towards the education of their children by allowing them to school instead of engaging them in child labour.
