Onomabo, a farming community in the Birim Central Municipality was full of praise to government for its conscious efforts at raising the status of the community.
The people expressed this sentiment when the Eastern Regional Minister and his entourage visited the community to inspect ongoing educational infrastructure projects in the town as part of a familiarization tour of the municipality.
The community has benefited from 3number 2-unit teachers’ quarters at the cost of GH101, 000. The facility financed through the social Investment Fund (SIF) and the District Assembly Common Fund is hoped to ensure teachers accept posting to the area and as well as make it possible to retain them when they come to ensure continuity in the teaching and learning process to accelerate improving the educational standards in the area.
Since the presence of pupils that necessitated the teachers’ accommodation, the welfare of the pupils was also given attention with the construction of 6-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities including common room for teachers, library and sanitary places.
Meanwhile, the people have appealed to government and the municipal assembly to institute measures to connect the community to the electricity national grid to help facilitate economic activities in the area.
They also called for improved road network especially opening up a rout they consider the shortest to all the major towns around them in order tat they can have easy access to major health facilities around them.
Mr. Victor Smith assured the people that government is determined to improve the social and economic opportunities of deprived communities and was distributing its resources to meet everybody but called for spirit of self help to push development forward.
