Out of the over 65, 819 teachers in the country about 50, 000 of them will before the end of this year receive laptop computers, a gesture government is seriously working towards.
The gesture is to empower teachers to put up their best and also help them acquire knowledge in ICT knowledge in order to be at par with current trends in the world.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Education, Mr. Lee Ocran when he break grounds for the commencement of a USAID funded modern office complex for the education directorate of the Ketu North District in the Volta region.
According to Mr. Ocran the process had already begun and currently the laptops are being assembled and that th laptops will be distributed immediately after the process was over.
“We cannot do all this year. But we will continue with the distribution in subsequent years,” he noted.
On abysmal performance of pupils in the Region, the Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Mr. Henry Ametefe appealed to teachers and parents to do their best to help their wards improve in their academic performance.
He said government will continuously roll out more physical and non-physical projects such as the school feeding programme, providing permanent structures for schools under trees among others but without the help of parents or teachers government dreams of improving education would not be realized.
“Government is doing a lot including paying of capitation grant, rolling of more infrastructural project but without the help from parents and teachers governments efforts will be in vain,” he intimated.
