Elated school authorities of the Rhema Basic School at Woe-Abutia, a town in the Keta Municipality have received keys to a new 6-unit classroom block to enhance teaching and learning in the area.
The project according to the Municipal Chief Executive for Keta, Mr. Sylvester Tornyeavah was as a result of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s determination to further improve education in the Volta Region.
“The classroom block is part of other projects being executed by the government with the view of removing all schools under trees in the country within the shortest possible time,” he added.
Mr. Tornyeavah who made this known during the project commissioning in the area yesterday also said the facility will not only enable the Keta Municipality to have their fair share of the national cake but to also correct the deficit created by successive government since independence.
Although the MCE was not happy with the current site of the facility, saying that the site was hidden Mr. Tornyeavah believed the new classroom block will go a long way in creating the required atmosphere for teaching and learning in the area.
For his part the chief of the town Torgbi Gbordzo III expressed appreciation to the government for the project and called on the teachers and pupils to put up their best in order to complement governments efforts to improve education.
He however called on the people of the Volta Region to eschew any form of violence that has the tendency of threatening the peace in the Region.
