Six unit classroom blocks with ancillary facilities have been commissioned at Kwantanan Roman Catholic and Kwantanan Islamic Primary Schools at separate functions in the Kwaebibirem District.
The Ghana Education Trust fund (GETFund) project forms part of government’s efforts to eliminate schools under trees as a way to encourage more people to go to school and improve standard of education.
Eastern Regional minister, Mr. Victor Smith who commissioned the project said education is a shared responsibility between the government, community, parents and other stakeholders and called on parents to play their role by sending their children to school as well as monitor their performance to help them become useful future leaders.
The Minister also urged teachers to endeavour to inculcate moral values into the children.
He further added that the NDC government will continue to provide good infrastructure and improve existing intervention like the school feeding programme, capitation grant, and free uniforms among others.
He called for unity by stakeholders in the community to push development forward.
