BOLGA:Assembly hands over CHPS at Dorongo, Yikene
 | | | Health delivery | |
The Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly has constructed two Community Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) centre at Dorongo and Yikene communities.
The facilities have been handed over to the beneficiary communities and are currently operating to offer quality healthcare for the inhabitants.
Municipal Chief Executive for the area, Edward Ayiriba Ayagle who spoke to Ghanadistricts.com concerning these projects observed that the initiative will ostensibly reduce the stress in the accessibility of healthcare by residents of the two deprived communities.
According to him, in the past, there were no primary healthcare facilities available to serve these communities, a situation that compelled residents to practically endure 5-8 km journey to the Bolgatanga Regional hospital to access healthcare.
This he said necessitated the construction of a primary health post that will ease the difficulty encountered by the people in the area when accessing primary healthcare.
He further noted that such facility secured for the communities will partially reduce congestion that occurs at the Central hospital in Bolga, adding that the facility will assist in dealing with minor cases and anti-natal issues in the deprived communities.
