GA E: La Nkwantanang-Madina District to be inaugurated

The newly created La Nkwantanang-Madina District Assembly, carved from Ga East Municipality would be inaugurated on Tuesday, June 19, 2012.

This was announced by Mr John Kwao Sackey, Ga East Municipal Chief Executive at an emergency meeting to work out modalities for the inauguration in Accra yesterday. The inauguration includes preparation for the handing over and seed money for the Assembly, as well as the Madina Zonal Council Office to serve as the temporal office for the Assembly.

Mr Sackey explained that development projects being undertaken by Ga East Municipal Assembly along the boundaries of the new Assembly would be continued, while some vehicles would be provided and some of its staff allowed to work for the Assembly on temporal basis.

He announced that work would soon begin on Taifa and Haatso markets while the first phase of the Dome market had been completed for allocation to the market women.
