AKUAPIM S: Minister Advocates official opening of Nsawam by-pass

Victor Smith (Reg. Min)

The hectic vehicular congestion at the Nsawam stretch of the Accra- Nsawam road is by now a common knowledge to a general public especially commuters on the road.

The partial completion of the dual carriage by-pass under construction is therefore as savior by drivers who cannot wait for the project to be completed and handed over and have therefore resorted to using it without any permission from the Ghana Highways Authority.

To avoid  blame game in the unlikely incidence on the road, Mr. Victor Smith, Eastern Regional Minister has called for the appropriate road signs to be fixed on the completed portions of the road and official opening of it thus appropriate institutions be held responsible if anything happens.

The move he noted will allow far proper monitoring of activities on the road and to allow more vehicles to use it to decongest the town roads.

According to the Municipal Chief Executive,Mark Amoako Dompreh, the 7 kilometer by-pass which stretches from Doboro to Sing board is partly funded by the Government of Ghana (GoG) and the African Development Bank(AFDB).

He said AFDB provided fund for the construction of one side which of course has been completed whiles the other side  is still under construction by the GoG, adding that it is not true that the entire project was funded by the AFDB.

However the same construction firm, china railway executed the entire project.
