U MANYA K:Akateng new police post to be ready soon
A new Police Station being established at Akateng, a fishing community in the Upper Manya Krobo District in the Eastern Region is expected to be ready soon.
Currently the office structure, which has a charge office, Cells, offices and sanitary facilities, is receiving final touches from the contractor to get it ready for occupation.
District Chief Executive for the area, Isaac Tetteh Agbo briefing the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Victor Smith, when he inspected the facility said, it has become very important to set up a police post to ensure swift response to distress calls from residents as a way of curbing crime in the area.
According to him, incidence of arm robbery coupled with insecurity situations created by Fulani herdsmen was on the rise, hence urgent steps are being instituted to flush out individuals or group of persons involved in these unlawful activities.
Mr. Victor Smith noted that apart from Police stations there was the need for Immigration officers to be stationed in the area to check people, especially Fulani herdsmen who illegally get into the country and are engage in the activities that undermine the rules and regulations of the country.
The Minister also inspected road projects in the town, where culverts and gutters were being constructed to improve flow of running water to prevent the road being washed away.
