SUNYANI: Art Center to be ready for NAFAC- Asum-Ahensah

The Ministry of Chieftaincy and Culture is very much committed to completing the Art Center building at Sunyani to prepare the place for the National Festival Art and Culture (NAFAC).
According to the Minister, Alex Asum- Ahensah his outfit has requested for the release of GHs 1,455,484 million from the ministry of finance to complete the project.
The national festival of NAFAC which is held annually has its venue rotating among the regional capital and bring together various cultural groups to display the unique cultures in Ghana. It also attracts huge patronage especially from host town’s tourist.
The Art Centre building in Sunyani which is to host the festival was awarded to the state construction company in 1963 to be built but have since not being completed due to some technical reasons.
However the minister assured parliament that from the discussion he has had with the finance minister, he is optimistic that the contractor will be able to complete the project before NAFAC 2012 begins in August.
He however had a difficult time clarifying some figures he presented concerning the project when his fellow MP’s ask him to explain the figures which did not add-up.
