|Farm produce|| |
A ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a multi-purpose warehouse for the storage of grains and farm produce of local farmers in the Pru District of the Brong Ahafo Region will be observed very soon in the area.
The move will go a long way to make agriculture a lucrative venture to attract more youth into the sector as well as boost the level of agriculture in the area.
Disclosing this in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, the Budget Officer for the Pru District, Mark Annani recounted that in last year 2011, most of their farm produce were destroyed due to lack of storage facilities hence the urgent need to undertake such project.
“We had issues with storing our wares last year and we have made it a point not to allow it to happen again this year,” he intimated.
Again, he said, in line with this, the Assembly has decided to undertake such project to bring relief to the local farmers adding that the facility will help store farm produce before they are transported to urban market centres.
In another development, Mr. Annani disclosed that plans are far advnance for the construction of separate accommodation facilities to host personnel from both the fire and ambulance service teams in the area.
He assured sod cutting for such projects will take off soon.
