The New Juaben Municipality is to witness upsurge in better road networks in the municipality in spite of regular maintenance works on existing ones.
This follows award of contracts by government for major works on some important road networks in the municipality. Procurement processes are still on-going on some while others are still at the consideration stage.
These roads include upgrading of the main roads of Osabene, Nyamekrom, Densu Intake and Atekyem Roads (9km), already awarded on contract, upgrading of main roads to Acheampong, Trom, Agavenya and Bonya (3.7km) and upgrading of Chief Dagomba, Musco-Asip Market, New Zongo area and Yawkyerema-Krom Roads (6.9km).
The rest that are still under consideration are Magazine, Effiduase and Asokore Kuma Roads (5.97km); 3-number traffic signal light and installation of 2-number traffic light and other traffic management measures; and partial reconstruction of Akwadum and Abogri-Adweso Clinic roads as well as Two Streams and Moses School of Accountancy Roads (8.5km).
Municipal Chief Executive, Alex Asamoah said in a measure to ensuring free and safe movement of goods and services the unit has earmarked some junctions and roads for traffic management improvement. Among them will include addition of supplementary back-up battery at the 4-number traffic signal lights which was improved to maintain sufficient power for at least 24 hours should the national grid goes off.
