KRACHI E:Schools under trees get classrooms

School under tree

The Krachi East District is close to replacing dilapidated and make-shift structures being used as classroom blocks in some communities in the district.

Interventions being made by government through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to improve school infrastructure with the provision of modern classroom blocks in a number of communities are inching completion.

Among them are Dadodo, Kplesu,Napua and Dedi communities where students are in anticipation to occupy new classrooms.

The state of most classroom blocks are believed to be disincentives to the quest to get as many children of school going age to the classroom, hence communities with such structures as classrooms or without schools are being built schools across the country.

Until recently, it was believed that the country was inundated with about 4, 320 schools under tress or in poor shape, a situation which compelled the government to initiate moves through GETFund to address the situation.

This resulted in some 1,700 classroom blocks for schools under trees to be awarded on contract throughout the country with some completed and others still under construction.
