BUNKPURUGU:54,975 people registered in biometric exercise

About 54,975 persons have been registered in the just ended biometric voter registration exercise in the Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo District, the Chief Executive, Philip N. Laari has hinted.

According to him, the exercise, which started on March 24, 2012, ended successfully April 5, 2012 in all the 30 Electoral areas made up of 118 registration centers without any problem.

Mr. Philip revealed that, this year’s registration has completely increased the voter population of 49,197 in 2008 to 54,975 in the biometric voter register.

In an interview with the District Electoral Commission Officer, Mr. Lawrence Akundikiya reverenced God for making the exercise a success in the area.

He also commended the security agencies for ensuring a fairly peaceful atmosphere for the exercise throughout the period.
