KPANDAI:46,862 eligible voters registered

The Electoral Officer for the Kpandai District Assembly in the Northern Region, Mr. Watson Tizor Apentsui has disclosed that the area has successfully registered 46,862 persons in the just ended Biometric Voter Registration exercise.
According to Mr. Apentsui, the current figure represents an increase in the number of eligible voters as against the previous voter register, which recorded 44,431 registered voters in the area.
In his words, the exercise began well and ended within the stipulated 40 days time allotted.
Although he believed the exercise was successful, he observed that since the exercise was the first of its kind in the country, it was really challenging pointing out that there were few technical hitches which were quickly addressed to prevent further problem. The Electoral officer commended all the political parties, Chiefs and the entire people of the Kpandai District for cooperating with the electoral laws during the exercise.
On issues of extension of the exercise, Mr. Watson, explained that, until they receive new directives from the Tamale Regional Electoral Office on the matter, what he knew was that the exercise has ended.
