BIRIM S:Assembly qualifies for 2011 DDF
 | | | DCE, Nana Baffour Mensah-Takyi | |
Chief Executive of the Birim South District in the Eastern Region, Nana Baffour Mensah-Takyi is glad the assembly has once again qualified for the District Development Fund.
The assembly scored almost 87 percent in the recent Functional Organisational Assessment Tool (FOAT) to qualify for the fund for 2011.
But, while commending the various departments and the district substructures for doing well to ensure the assembly is always in hand to benefit from the fund to be able to carry out more development projects, he cautioned them not to be complacent as the fund plays an important role in the assembly’s quest to meeting the development needs of the various communities.
The DCE however, indicated that the Assembly is still expecting disbursement of the rest of the 2010 fund.
Introduction of the District Development Fund (DDF) has compelled all the Metropolitan/Municipaland District Assemblies MMDAs to improve on their performance as this qualifies them to access extra fund outside the traditional common fund for development.
Unlike the common fund which is automatic for all assemblies, assemblies needs to work extra hard to position themselves well for the fund, and this performance target cut across various undertakings at the assemblies.
