 | | | New school building | |
Two schools in the Upper Manya Krobo District in the Eastern Region have been handed new classroom blocks.
The six-unit classroom block with library, staff room and other ancillary facilities was constructed by the Ghana education Trust Fund (GETFund) as part of measures to eliminate schools under trees in the district.
The two beneficiary schools, Nyakumasi DA Primary and Sawayiti Presby Primary had to battle with poor classroom infrastructure over the years until this intervention from GETFund.
Speaking to Ghanadistricts.com, District Chief Executive Joseph Tetteh Angmor said the pupils and teachers were all relieved for the conducive atmosphere provided them to enhance teaching and learning.
He commended government and GETFund for their efforts in improving educational infrastructure within this three years period.
According to him, GETFund has so far constructed 13 new school blocks though some are still under construction while a new one was recently warded on contract. He said the assembly also added three new blocks to augment efforts from government.
He indicated that the situation was very disturbing when they assumed office but through the various interventions infrastructure in many school have become better and expressed hope GETFund will extend more projects to the districts.
