TECHIMAN: NHIS registers beyond expectation
 | | | NHIS | |
The National Health Insurance Scheme in the Techiman Municipality has registered more than the required number of applicants it had intended to insure since last year to date.
The scheme had registered 134,271 as against its target of 120,000, signifying an excess of 14,271 persons for last year and this year.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Techiman, Alex Kyeremeh who disclosed this at the Third Ordinary meeting of the Fourth Session of the Techiman Municipal Assembly traced the success of the scheme to a strategy adopted by the assembly which he noted to be a special registration exercise held in all the market centres in the Techiman township and selected communities in the area.
In National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), Mr. Kyeremeh indicated that the last batch of 34 Health Extension workers were under training and four(4) other beneficiaries, had completed training as fire-fighters.
He also disclosed that to solve the delay in paying the beneficiaries, the system of payment was changed from National Quarters to Better Ghana Services and added that the programme had shifted emphasis from paid employment to skill training.
