 | | | Illegal mining | |
The Assemblyman for Bamboi Electoral Area in the Bole District, Obed Kofi Mange has called for punitive measures to be meted out against galamsey operators in the area to prevent them from further destruction of the environment.
In an interview with Ghanadistricts.com Obed Mange bemoaned the illegal mining activities in the area which has adversely affected the environment including lands and water bodies such as the Black Volta which is the community’s source of water.
He was equally concerned about the activities of chain saw operators whose illegal felling of trees deplete the reserved forest and also destroy several farms in the process.
Obed Kofi Mange noted that if government does not intervene to halt the situation there would be serious havoc to human lives and the environment.
Meanwhile, teachers’ quarters has been completed in the area to accommodate more teachers who take up teaching jobs in the area.
