The project sponsored by Japanese International Co-operation Agency JICA is to ensure that such communities are not deprived of electricity that basically the potential of boosting the economy of those communities.
Chief Executive of the District, Joseph Nyofam Ninkab commended the agency for considering those communities which are generally difficult to reach with electricity because of where they are located. And for complementing efforts of government to ensure as many as possible communities are hooked on to the national grid no matter their location in the country.
In a related development, government through the Rural Electrification Project extended electricity from Dambai through Tutukpenu, Kecheibi to Nkwanta.
One unique feature however is that due to annual bushfires the area goes through that leads mostly to the destruction of electricity poles, this project was carried out with galvanized electricity poles that can withstand the fire.
According to the DCE, the project has provided over 10 communities with light.
