ASUOGYAMAN: NDC race: 7 people pick nomination forms

There is hot chase for the Asuogyaman Parliamentary seat in the Eastern Region currently occupied by the National Democratic Congress, NDC.
The seat is seen as one of the safe seats for the NDC and interested party members are taking the necessary steps to get the nod from delegates as the parliamentary candidates.
Seven people have so far picked nomination forms to contest the NDC primaries in the Asuogyaman constituency since the leadership of the party opened the flood gates for open campaign in constituencies where there are NDC incumbent Members of Parliament.
Among the candidates are the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hon. Rev. Dr. Joses Asare Akoto, William Buckle, Winfred Yevuga, Richard Norgbedzi, Emmanuel Offei and a lady, Augustina Adumbea Darko.
Filing ends on December23, 2011 and it is unclear if more people would pick nomination forms before the closing date. Elections in these constituencies would be on January 24 2012.
The National Democratic Congress had already elected parliamentary candidates in orphan constituencies and is expected to submit candidates for all the constituencies across the country after the January 24, 2012 election.
