SCIENCE : Mills assures science society of gov’t support

President John Evans Atta Mills has given the assurance that his government would lend maximum support to science development and the activities of Ghanaian scientists to help build a better Ghana.

He said though scientists continue to research and contribute their quota to

building a Better Ghana, it was incumbent on all of us to also make their work  easier by being alive to our responsibilities of safeguarding the environment as well as being sanitation conscious

President Mills said this when he opened the first ever Ghana Science Congress on the theme: “Water, Sanitation and the Environment - Securing our Future through Science.

President Mills also reiterated government’s commitment to improving the sanitation condition in the country and bemoaned the improper management of plastic waste in some parts of the country.

According to the president, it is time the nation introduced stringent measures to curb the increasing filth situation in the country.

He said his administration will fight to improve the water and sanitation problems in the country before his tenure comes to an end.
