 | | | Joe Gidisu | |
The Minister of Roads and Highways, Joe Gidisu has assured that some of the major on -going road constructions in different parts of the country will see a major boost as government secures funding for them.
The minister made the comments after reports emerged that the World Bank has agreed to give Ghana $400 million loan facility during the vice president‘s visit to the United States
The Achimota-Ofankor and the Nsawam-Apedwa stretches of the Accra-Kumasi Highway, the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange-Adenta section of the Accra-Aburi road, are some of the road projects to benefit from the facility.
The Sofoline Interchange in Kumasi will also be completed.
Joe Gidisu in an interview with Accra based Joy Fm, explained how the loan facility will be utilized.
He emphasized government’s commitment to complete most of the projects by the close of this year.
He argued against the situation where government of Ghana was solely the source of funding for the project saying government budget is such that funding huge projects like these ones poses enormous threat to the public purse
