BUSINESS : Gas Found In Commercial Quantities in Ghana

An eight (8) member business delegation, made up of Directors and Chief Executive Officers of ENI and Vitol Group of Companies have paid a courtesy call on President John Evans Atta Mills at the Christianborg Castle, Osu.

The delegation which was led by Mr. Ian Robert Taylor of Vitol Group of Companies paid a courtesy call on the President to present a report on their exploration of gas in the country.

President Mills in a welcome message indicated that, he is honored by their visit and that Ghanaians are grateful for the partnership.

Mr. Ian Robert indicated that, the group has invested over US$ 300 million in gas exploration and have finally found a gas field in Ghana.

The Leader of the group said, “the purpose of the meeting was to device ways of putting the gas in a form that will offer mutual benefit for Ghana and the group.

Present at the meeting was the Energy Minister, Dr. Oteng Agyei, Secretary to the President and the National Security Cordinator. Mr. Larry Gbevlo- Lartey.

The meeting which lasted for about an hour, was held in closed doors.
