KUMASI : K.M.A Boss under attack
 | | | KMA Boss Samuel Sarpong | |
The Mayor of Kumasi, Samuel Sarpong, says there was a robbery attempt at his personal and former residence at the week-end
Though full details of the incident is yet to unfold, there are speculations that the robbery attempt was in connection with the alleged GHS90 million budgeted for the president’s re-election bid.
The mayor’s aides who confirmed the incident to the media said they suspected some individuals who believe the mayor is keeping part of the alleged 90 million for the President’s campaign.
Mr Sarpong himself first gave a hint of the attack on a Kumasi radio station while reacting to allegations by a member of the Friends Of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (FONKAR) that he (the Mayor) had organized thugs to assault supporters of Mrs. Rawlings.
He noted that a supporter of the former First Lady had alleged on another station that he was keeping GHS30 million meant to influence party delegates in the Ashanti Region.
Police sources say they are not aware of the attack, but the Mayor’s spokesman, Clement Kegeri, confirmed the incident to Luv News, a Kumasi based FM station.
He however declined giving further details until he is briefed fully by the mayor.
