AHANTA WEST: Court remands security man for murder.

Matthew Acheampong, a 35-year- old  security man at Norpalm Oil Plantation in the Ahanta West District has been remanded in custody for alleged murder.
    

The Kwesimintsim District Crime Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police  Ben Ofori Acquah confirmed the arrest of the accused to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday.
    
He said the accused appeared before a District Magistrate court at Agona Nkwanta on May 5. His plea was not taken and would re-appear on May 19.
    
It would be recalled that on Thursday, April 28, a labourer of the Company, John Arthur,35, reported to duty but was later found dead at around 1930 hours along a bush path leading to his house at Hotopo with bruises on the face and the head.
    
Police investigations into the murder revealed that, the deceased was allegedly attacked by Acheampong, when he allegedly took some residue of the palm fruits without authorisation.
    
It said the deceased attempted to escape with the palm fruits but was pursued by Acheampong into the bush.
