NATIONAL : ECG sorry for blackout during Ghana-England game
 | | | |
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has apologized to Ghanaians who were denied the opportunity to watch the entire historic friendly match between Ghana and England on Tuesday night, due to interruptions in power supply.
Various parts of Accra suffered a blackout midway through the titanic clash which was viewed by millions across the globe.
Football enthusiasts, who knew that this was not a new occurrence as far as the ECG is concerned, abandoned their television sets in search of alternative venues to catch a glimpse of the game.
The Operations Manager of ECG, Mr. Tetteh Okine told Citi News the power outage was due to a minor fault at its substation at Achimota, which has been fixed.
“We lost power at the main Achimota bulk supply point. May be it was the load which took it off so once we had the green light from our suppliers, we got the customers back again. But definitely it was a disappointment that right in the middle of the match the power had to go off. It’s just unfortunate but customers would have to bear with us”.
