The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication has started teaching some school children at Kwabeng in the Atiwa district of the Eastern region, how to use the computer to access information.

These children were taken through the basics in computer and how to access information, especially, education materials, on the internet.

Mr. Victor Asante, GIFEC Research Officer, said the programme which was organised in collaboration with the Eastern regional library board, was aimed at introducint the children in the rural communities to the computer and library books.

Mr. Asante said if the children were able to use the computer to access information on the internet , they could acquire more knowledge with fewer funds.

The Eastern regional director of the Ghana Library board, Mr. Guy Amarteifio, noted that most schools in the rural communities had no computers and in view of this, the Library board had teamed up with GIFEC to send computers to the door steps of the children under a programme dubbed, e-mobile library projects.
