CAPE COAST : MP inaugurates committee for Science Resource Centre

Mr Ebo Barton Odro, Member of Parliament for Cape Coast, has inaugurated a seven-member Management Committee to man a new Science Resource Centre, he has initiated to encourage students to take keen interest in science.


The committee comprise Mr Anthony Egyir Aikins, Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mrs Georgina Quaisie, Head of Science Education Unit of the Ghana Education Service, Mr Simon Obotan Larbi, Metropolitan Director of Education and Mr George Yankson of the Metropolitan Directorate of Education.

The rest are Nana Kwamina Nyimfa, Adontenhen of Oguaa Traditional Area, Mr Jonas Commey, Member of Oguaaman Union and Mr Aduah Kwesi Sampson of the Office of the Cape Coast MP.

In an address, Mr Odro who is also the Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General noted that it is imperative for students take up subjects in the sciences in order to be able to compete in the global technological era and also contribute to nation building.

He said the Ghana Education Trust Fund, has provided a bus for the transportation of students to the science centre.

Mr Odro asked the committee to come out with a roster to facilitate the smooth running of the centre and to prolong its lifespan.

Mr Larbi on behalf of his colleagues pledged to take good care of the facility to help promote the study of science.

He expressed concern about the poor performance of science students in the metropolis and expressed the hope that the resource centre will help reverse the situation.

Mr Larbi advised the students to study hard in order to achieve their aim in life.
