(KALEO) NADOWLI: DCE calls for proper immigration procedures
The Nadowli District Chief Executive, Mr. Abu Kansangbata, has appealed to chiefs, assembly members, elders and opinion leaders in the district to follow proper immigration procedures before settling Fulani herdsmen.
He said the activities of these alien Fulani herdsmen had become a disturbing phenomenon in the district and that appropriate measures needed to be taken to bring them under control.
"While complying with the ECOWAS protocol, we should not allow the peace we are enjoying in our communities to be disturbed by the activities of these Fulani herdsmen", he said.
Mr. Kansangbata said the celebration of the "Zumbenti" Festival of the people of Kaleo.
The festival was on the theme: "Zumbenti Festival: A Treasury of new insights in the Socio-economic development of the Nadowli District".
He said the government was implementing the small town water project in Kaleo at a cost of 664,000.00 Ghana cedis.
Mr. Kansangbata said the government was collaborating with the African Development Bank and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to implement the Northern Rural Growth Programme of which the Nadowli District is a beneficiary.
Under the programme, farmers would be assisted to produce vegetables such as pepper, okro, watermelon, tomato and cabbage for the local market and export.
He said the District Assembly was sourcing for funds from the District Wide Assistance programme (DWAP) secretariat to build a dormitory block for the Kaleo Senior High School this year.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to improving road infrastructure and extending electricity to some rural communities in the district and urged the people to be patient and rally behind government to deliver on its promises.
