(KASOA) AWUTU SENYA : New science lab. for students

 
  

The Bediako Memorial Institute, a private institution at Kasoa in the Central region, has inaugurated a GHC 33, OOO state  of the art  science laboratory.

Mr. Asare Bediako, managing director of the institute, said the performance of the pupils at the 2009 Basic Education Certificate examination, informed management’s  decision to build the science laboratory for effective teaching and learning of science and its related subjects.

"We are not doing this for money but to help the children get a good and valuable future", he said.

The Director for Basic Education of the Ghana Education Service, Mr. Stephen Adu, stressed the need for students to develop their own way of thinking about science education.

"One cannot talk of a country’s development without quality education to develop a critical mind", he said, adding, "quality education provides opportunity for creativity, innovativeness, enhances ones living, creates awareness and alleviate the cycle of poverty,".

He said the country needed to keep pace with the technological and great thinkers who can turn the challenges around to solve the numerous problems confronting us as a country.

Mr. Asoa Apimah, Awutu Senya District Director of Education, commended the institute for setting a standard by providing the well equipped science laboratory to help make science enjoyable for students.
