AKYEMMANSA : Rainstorm destroys properties.

A roaring rainstorm has hit  the Akyemmansa district capital, ripping off the roofs of a number of buildings including the clinic and rural bank in the town.

Many of the people in the town, especially those in the Zongo area, whose  houses were destroyed by the rainstorm, have been rendered homeless.

The Nkosuohene of the town, Nana Yeboah Asiamah I as well as the chief of the town, Nana Dubin Nti II appealed to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to immediately come to the aid of the affected people since" they do not have any place to sleep".

Most of the families affected are large and NADMOs’ swift assistance would be appreciated.

The chief asked the government to expand the facilities at the local clinic and upgrade it to a district hospital.

"This is a new district and we need a hospital since most at times serious cases here are referred to the Oda government hospital.

The road to Oda is not good so by the time they get there conditions of the victims would have detriorated"

Nana Asiamah indicated.

Nana Asiamah also appealed to the government to extend the school feeding programme to the town and properly equip and increase the personnel of the district police force at Ofoase.

"Ofoase has been a traditional capital for a very long time and now that it has become a district capital. The government will have to pay more attention to the town", they stressed.
