Project Development Objectives And  Expected  Impact
  • To improve urban living conditions in regard to environmental health sanitation, drainage, vehicular access and solid waste management in a sustainable fashion with special emphasis on the poor in the five major cites. Accra. Sekondi-Takoradi, Kumasi, Tema, Tamale.

Tamale is however benefiting from only 4 components excluding  
storm drainage.

Expenditure to Date
USD $102.000

PROJECT INTERVENTIONS
Sanitation - Construction of public toilets, schools toilets and household toilets:

 Public Toilets
24 Seater WC - Tamale Central Markets
20 Sealer WC - Aboabo Market lorry park etc
4 other areas will be considered later.

School Toilets -
15 schools are to benefit from 6-20 acqua -privy toilets
17 others will be considered later

 Household Toilets
1,500 household toilets to be provided throughout Tamale. The Bank is providing subsidy of the equivalent of $150 per    facility while beneficiaries will provide the remaining   amount either in kind or cash.                            

Community Upgrading
Facilities to be provided in ward 1 (Poloyafong) include the following;
  •  Roads
  • Public Toilets
  • Water Supply
  •  Electricity
  •  Waste Container Pads

Other communities to be considered are:
  • Tishegu
  • Bulpela
  • Lamashegu
 Institutional Strengthening
Arrangements have been completed to engage HIFAB the Consultant to the NDF Component.
