Ghana is fifty years old after independence from colonial rule. As a nation we have had our ups and downs. This period was characterized by political upheavals and economic trials. Fortunately, for the past decade, we have experienced stability; however fragile it may appear, it is something to be proud of, thus the need to protect our fragile democracy with all the vigour it deserves.

The Kwaebibirem District, promulgated as a district in July 1988, it shares boundaries with Birim South, East Akyem and Birim North Districts. The name of the district, “Kwaebibirem”, when loosely translated from Akyem is “Virgin forest”, which connotes its evergreen vegetation. Various species of timber, such as mahogany, emire, odum and wawa can be found in abundance in the district’s wide expanse of forests.
