Jirapa Primary Schools Hold Classes Under Trees - DCE

He said the situation had arisen because primary schools in the district were provided with only three classrooms when they were constructed. Mr Dakurah said since then almost all such schools established had not had their full compliment of six classrooms for a primary school.

He made this disclosure when Mr Ambrose Dery, the Upper West Regional Minister inspected work on new classroom blocks for the Tizaa-Nimbare Primary School.

The new ˘650 million block of six classrooms is to replace the old and dilapidated structure. It is being financed by Action Aid Ghana, a non governmental organisation and the district assembly.

The school is one of five primary schools in the district selected for the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) School Feeding Programme.

Mr Dery, who also inspected a completed ˘350 million police station for Jirapa said he would consider asking for assistance from government to put up additional blocks of classrooms for the primary schools.

He urged the people to mobilize themselves and provide some of the needs of the schools.  [2006-01-16 00:00:00]
