The Jirapa District lies in the north-western corner of the Upper West Region of Ghana. The capital of the district is Jirapa. It shares boundaries to the south with Nadowli Ditrict, to the east with Sissala District, to the west with Lawra District and to the north with Burkina Faso. The district therefore, serves as the national gateway to Burkina Faso from the upper westrn part of the country.

The Micro Finance and Small Loans Centre has disbursed loans totalling between GH¢ 2,500 and 3,000 per group to 164 groups made up of 2,270 individuals.

More teaching assistants needed

Since the inception of the National Youth Employment Programme in the Jirapa District in 2006, the assembly has been able to implement only four modules including teaching assistants, health extension workers, waste and sanitation and environmental health module out of the eleven modules.
