The Dangme-West District is located in the south-eastern part of Ghana, in close proximity to Tema, the country’s largest seaport, and Accra, the capital city, which also hosts the country’s international airport. The district was carved out of the former Dangme District in 1998 as part of the government’s decentralisation policy. It is the largest district in the Greater Accra Region and its capital is Dodowa.
The district is bordered on the south-west by the Tema municipality, which combines with the Accra metropolis itself, to constitute the most highly industrialised and commercialised metropolitan core of Ghana.
The Atlantic Ocean washes the district to the south with a beautiful coastline stretching over 37 kilometres. The district forms part of the central portions of the Accra Plains.

The Dangme West District is the largest district in the Greater Accra Region with a landmass of 1442 sq km. it occupies 41.5% of the Greater Accra Region. The district is noted for its rich history and abounds in many rich and diversified cultures. We have many tourist attractions such as the Tsenku water falls, Dodowa Forest, the Shai Hills Reserve that has a lot of wild animals in it just to mention but few.
