The government has began the payment of emergency relief funds to some selected very poor households throughout the country to mitigate the effects of the global food crisis as well as drought and floods, which had affected the food production of these people.

AMANSIE WEST: Millennium Villages Project supports teacher training The UN Millennium Villages Project, which operates in the Amansie West District of Ashanti has for the past two years supported 133 untrained teachers to pursue the untrained Teachers Diploma in Basic Education Distance Programme at the Wesley College in Kumasi.
The Amansie West District is one of the 21 districts in the country. It was carved out of the Amansie East District in Ashanti Region in 1989, as part of the Government’s Decentralization Policy. Manso-Nkwanta is the district capital. The district is located in the south-western part of the Ashanti Region. It shares common boundary on its Western part with the Atwima District. On its northern part can be found the Bosomtwe-Atwima Kwanwoma District, while a regional boundary separates it from Western Region on its southern part.
