Mutual Health Insurance Scheme
The implementation of the Bongo District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme is making strides in the District.

As at June 2007, the total number of registered subscribers rose from 24,666 in December, 2006 to 35,238, making up of 5,767 fully paid subscribers from the informal sector, 5,377 SSNIT contributors, 586 pensioners, 27m257 children under 18 years, 4867 aged and 4,605 indigents (core poor). Total premium collected is 4319,382,000.00.

However, the scheme is still facing challenges such as politicization of the District, the lack of some health services such as ’X’ Ray services, ultra-sound scan etc.The law that both parents must register before the children can benefit is impeding the smooth implementation of the programme.
