Mission Statement

The Tolon District Assembly exists to improve upon the quality of lives of its people through the provision of facilities and services in collaboration with the communities and other stakeholders.

Tolon News recently caught up with Hon. Iddi Manza Mahama, District Chief Executive for the area in his office for a snap interview. Hon. lddi Manza Mahama who is the President’s representative in charge of the District mentioned Education and the development of the human resource base of the District, improvement in the District’s Agricultural economy, Peace and Security, infrastructural Development, Revenue Mobilization, Provision of Safe and portable water and improvement in the delivery of Health services and an efficient and transparent administration among others as his priority area.

Education and Human Resource Development
According to the DCE, for the District to maximize its development potentials and also reduce poverty and ignorance to the barest minimum, Education and the development of the human resource base of the people must be given priority attention.  “My administration is doing just that because we cannot afford to be left behind by our brothers and sisters in other parts of the country”, he emphasized.

Hon. Mahama disclosed that, the District Assembly will in the course of this year alone build thirty (30) classrooms or six (6) new school blocks as part of measures by the Assembly to meet the requirements of the District.  In the opinion of the DCE provision of the required school blocks is critical as when it is not done some schools may have to make do with shades provided by trees.

The six new school blocks have been earmarked to be built in Tolon, the District capital, Nyankpala, Kumbungu, Dalun, Gbulung and Lingbin-Gurugu.  Teacher accommodation is another area we are paying much attention to, Hon. Mahama added.  According to him, more teachers’ quarters shall be not seen any renovation works for many years and therefore not conducive for human habitation will be rehabilitated to make teachers in the District comfortable and thereby enhance teaching and learning in the District.
