The municipality is partly situated on the Mampong scarp, which runs from west to east.  The highest point is 2,400 meters whilst the lowest point is 135 meters above sea level.  The scarp is an extension of the Kintampo-Bisa ranges. The municipality is fairly drained by streams and rivers, notably Kyirimfa, Tatafro, Sata and Sumanpa which are also being used for domestic purposes and agriculture by surrounding communities.
