The fair temperature and rainfall enhance the cultivation of cocoa and food crops. The vegetation of the area comprises moist decidous forest, which does not differ much from the rainforest.
Some of the economic trees found in the area are Sapele, Odum, wawa and Cola. The district has two major forest reserves. These are the Desiri Forest Reserve at the southern part of the district and the Tinte north-eastern part of the district.
