Water The district generally has good coverage of potable water supply with about 75.08% coverage as compared to the regional coverage rate of 43.82%. However, a number of the settlements have attained status of towns thus their dependence on boreholes often lead to frequent break downs and water shortage especially during the dry
season hence the call for mechanized pipe schemes in such communities. However, the frequent breakdown of boreholes within the communities often leads to water shortage especially during the dry season.
Sanitation Sanitation coverage is generally poor as most communities depend on traditional pit latrines. Total sanitation coverage is just about 5% as most communities depend on unhygienic traditional pit latrines. Conscious effort need to be made to increase sanitation coverage within the plan period.
