Wa Municipal is among the Eleven (11) Municipal and Districts in the Upper West Region. The Municipal Administrative Capital is Wa. The Municipality is also home to the regional capital of Upper West Region. This, of course, makes it the largest urban centre in the region. The Municipality shares boundaries with Daffiama Bussie Issa District to the North, Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District to the South, Wa West District to the West and Wa East District to the East.
