Nabdam District was created as an Assembly by legislative Instrument (L.I. 2105) in 2012 with its Administrative capitalas Nangodi. It was carved from Talensi-Nabdam and forms part of the new 46 districts and municipalities created in the year 2012 and were inaugurated at their various locations simultaneously on the 28th June, 2012. All the inaugurated and confirmed MMDAs established are operational with immediate effect hence bringing the total number of MMDAs to 216. The District shares boundaries with Bolgatanga Municipal to the West, Bongo Distrit to the North, to the South with the mother District Talensi, to the East with Bawku West. The District forms part of the thirteen (13) Municipalities and Districts in the Upper East .
The benefit that comes with the implementation of dam construction is enormous for the people, particularly farmers living in Northern Ghana where the area has semi-arid conditions that is capable of slowing agric production in the north.
Mr Boniface Gambila, New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Nabdam , Upper East Region, said the falling standards of education, especially in the Talensi/Nabdam District, should be a concern for all.
With health remaining as a critical sector in development matters, Nabdam district Assembly is seriously setting plans in place this year to at least increase the number of CHPS compound for effective health delivery within the localities.
Efforts at improving quality of education is seemingly tenable for the Nabdam district, as the assembly claimed it has almost succeeded in removing schools under trees in the area, District Chief Executive for the assembly, Vivian Anafo has disclosed.
